Here are the top three stories in Albuquerque today:

  1. The Albuquerque Police Department responded to a Northeast Albuquerque apartment where a man was fatally shot in the chest. The shooting that occurred at an apartment near San Mateo and Montgomery is the 12th murder local police have investigated this year. The department is currently conducting an investigation and is reportedly interviewing several witnesses. (KOB)
  2. The National Museum of Nuclear Science and History celebrated Discovery STEAM Day this weekend. The annual event aims to teach children about science, technology, engineering, art, and math through the use of hands-on activities. The museum says it seeks to offer "something for everyone." (KRQE News 13)
  3. During its first month of zero-fare operation, the Albuquerque bus system saw a record 423,000 travelers. The pilot project will continue throughout the rest of the year with lost revenue being made up through extra funds allocated towards the Transit Department from the City Council. The new operation enables the bus system to work more smoothly, as drivers no longer have to wait for passengers to search for cards and change at the bus stops. (Albuquerque Journal)
