Here are the top stories today in Albuquerque:

  1. A person was fatally injured after being struck by an Albuquerque Fire Rescue vehicle that was responding to an aid call early Friday, Nov. 12. The department reports that just after midnight, an AFR unit with lights and sirens was on its way to a mutual aid call when it struck a pedestrian in the roadway near I-40 and Coors. APD reports that the crash appears to be the result of pedestrian error and at this time, no charges are pending. (KRQE News 13)
  2. On Thursday, officials at Presbyterian Health Services and University of New Mexico Health announced the activation of "Crisis Standards of Care." As hospitals throughout the state face an increase of patients and a lack of resources, many are left challenged and overwhelmed. Under the guidelines of CSC, essential services will be prioritized and non-medical surgeries will be postponed. Health officials are encouraging community members to continue exercising public health measures, like wearing face masks and avoiding large crowds. (KOAT New Mexico)
