Here are the top three stories today in Albuquerque:
- Albuquerque's Larry H. Miller Toyota has been acquired by Houston-based Group 1 Automotive Inc. The acquisition was announced on Monday with the dealership being effectively renamed Sandia Toyota. The dealership is the 17th Toyota dealership owned by the group and the 9th dealership the group operates in New Mexico. (Albuquerque Journal)
- On Monday night, the Albuquerque City Council voted to override the mayor's veto on the plastic bag ban repeal. The vote was 6-3 and now allows businesses to hand out single-use plastic bags. The councilors reportedly repealed the ban because it put an unnecessary burden on consumers and business owners. (KOB)
- Data provided by the New Mexico Cannabis Control Division indicates that Albuquerque leads the state in recreational cannabis sales. It was overwhelmingly clear that cannabis sales were off to a successful start over the weekend but the new data breaks the sales numbers down by individual city. According to the report, Albuquerque saw $1.3 million in recreational sales and $633,504 in medical. (KOAT New Mexico)
