Here are the top 3 stories today in Albuquerque:
- Albuquerque Public Schools saw a record number of COVID-19 cases for the week of January 17. A total of 2,098 cases were reported, which is the highest weekly number since the start of the 2021-2022 school year. APS Superintendent Scott Elder said the district is also struggling to make sure students have a consistent teacher due to COVID. (KOAT New Mexico)
- A rollover crash on Thursday night in northeast Albuquerque claimed the life of a man. At about 11:00 p.m., police responded to the scene of a fatal single-vehicle crash at the intersection of the Northbound I-25 Frontage Road and Jefferson Street. Police say the man died at the scene. (KOB)
- At-home COVID tests are now available in Albuquerque. The city is handing out 80,000 kits, which are among the million tests required by Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham and the New Mexico Department of Health. Each self-test kit comes with two tests. Health and social service centers, community centers, senior centers, multi-generational centers, and public libraries were the first sites to receive the tests. (KRQE News 13)

- Santa Fe Animal Shelter & Humane Society reminded residents that cats and dogs are susceptible to frostbite and hypothermia just like humans. The new Santa Fe ordinance prohibits dogs from being kept outside in temperatures below 32 degrees. (Facebook)
- The Santa Fe Police Department is searching for two missing people. The Santa Fe Police Department is seeking the public's assistance in locating Ashley Hale (18 years old) and her brother Andrew Hale (20 years old). (Facebook)
- Santa Fe Animal Shelter & Humane Society is looking for volunteers to walk dogs. They said their volunteers have found working with the homeless animals has a double benefit: Help dogs and gets you in shape! (Facebook)
