Here are the top three stories today in Albuquerque:
- An allegedly violent serial shoplifter is being extradited back to Albuquerque after being arrested in Oklahoma. Brianna Garcia, 23, has been charged with 20 different counts of shoplifting, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and shooting at or from a motor vehicle, according to the state Attorney General's Office. She was arrested after a warrant was issued in early February. (Albuquerque Journal)
- Sales from recreational cannabis totaled more than $3.5 million for New Mexico in the first weekend. The average purchase was $61 and almost 58,000 transactions were made by buyers. Despite the impressive sales numbers, no area stores saw major supply issues. (KRQE News 13)
- A local Albuquerque teen has been awarded by the American Legion for making fishing easier for people with disabilities. With the help of his father and friend, Ben Allen created a device meant to make fishing easier for those with strength problems in their hands and fingers. Allen has been awarded the Good Deed Award. (KRQE News 13)
