Here are the top three stories today in Albuquerque:
- An Albuquerque man lost his wallet with $2,000 cash in it, but a local line cook returned both the wallet and the cash. Shaphan Hawks lost his wallet on Feb. 22 while dining at the Flying Star on Corrales Road. Matt Peralta, the line cook and owner of Cool Beans coffee shop in Rio Rancho, found the wallet and returned it to Hawks with all of its contents still in the wallet. Hawks and Peralta wants the Albuquerque community to remember that citizens are capable of great things. (Albuquerque Journal)
- The Albuquerque City Council is still divided on whether or not to repeal the ban on single-use plastic bags. The ban does not impose regulations on restaurants, farmer's markets, or dry cleaners. Only retailers and grocery stores are banned from using single-use plastic. (KRQE News 13)
- The City of Albuquerque is hosting a clothing drive for students around the area. The drive is being coordinated by Keep Albuquerque Beautiful and Locker 505. The event is called Recyclothes and will be hosted at the Hinkle Family Fun Center on Mar. 19, 2022. (KRQE News 13)
