Here are the top stories in Albuquerque today:
- The city handed out cash to small businesses impacted by COVID Friday morning. Checks for $10,000 were given to businesses who applied for a grant for the Economic Development Department. The city says the companies will be able to use the money on rent, utilities, and supplies. (KRQE News 13)
- If you live in the Albuquerque metro, you may have seen smoke coming from the East Mountains near I-40. The U.S. Forest Service and other supporting agencies are conducting a prescribed burn of around 459 acres in the David Canyon area within the Manzanita Mountains. Large columns of smoke will be seen in the area. (KOB)
- The Albuquerque Fisher House itself is in its second year and provides accommodations for over 200 military families, saving them $444,000 in lodging costs. (KRQE News 13)
- While Albuquerque has five stationary stations around the city to measure air quality – on Thursday, the city's Environmental Health Department unveiled an air quality monitoring trailer. (KOB)
- APD are investigating two different fatal crashes that happened in Albuquerque on Thursday. (KOAT New Mexico)
