Here are the top three stories today in Albuquerque:
- Spirit Airlines is now flying out of the Albuquerque Sunport. The budget air carrier is transporting travelers between Las Vegas, Nevada, and Albuquerque. The air carrier will be using Airbus A320 for the route. This is the first new carrier for the Sunport since 2016. (KRQE News 13)
- Bernalillo County residents can now pay water bills using a self-serve kiosk in the lobby of the county's Alvarado Square building. The kiosk will be accepting payments through card, cash, and e-check. The kiosk does not provide change. Bills can continue to be paid online, by mail, or over the phone. (KRQE News 13)
- The City of Espanola's planning and land use director was killed on Aug. 1 in Albuquerque. Muhammad Afzaal Hussain was fatally shot after stepping out of his brother's home. Hussain lived in Albuquerque and commuted to Espanola for his job. The Albuquerque Police Department believes he was randomly targeted. (Rio Grande Sun)
