Here are the top three stories in Albuquerque today:

  1. A motorcyclist was pronounced dead after being struck by a street sweeper in Northeast Albuquerque. The crash occurred in the 3230 block of Menaul NE around 6:30 a.m. According to the Albuquerque Police Department, the street sweeper was cleaning a private driveway entrance right before making a U-turn. Initial investigations appear to indicate that speed and alcohol were not factors in the crash. (Albuquerque Journal)
  2. The Albuquerque Hispano Chamber Foundation has been nominated for the 2022 Philanthropy Summit and Awards. The foundation was founded in 1988 with a focus on investing in economic growth and supporting future leaders. In 2021, the Albuquerque Hispano Chamber of Commerce Foundation gave 73 Albuquerque area students scholarships totaling more than $88,000. (The Business Journals)
  3. According to the President of the Albuquerque Teacher's Federation, experienced educators did not appreciate the recent raise. "The more experienced teachers feel like the system doesn't take their experience into account," said Federation President Bernstein.
