Here are the top three stories in Albuquerque today:
- A proposed Albuquerque ordinance would force landlords to consider or accept applicants using supplemental income to pay rent. Supplemental income sources are social security, child support, or housing vouchers. The city hopes that the new ordinance would support residents finding stable housing but landlords predict a disaster. (KRQE News 13)
- Homicide detectives with the Albuquerque Police Department have taken over the investigation into a Feb. 20 shooting after a victim died from their wounds. The shooting occurred in the 2700 block of Kathryn Avenue SE. Verlon Tyler Weahkee, 36, died from gunshot wounds at a local hospital on Mar. 20. (KOB)
- Lovelace and University of New Mexico Hospital's chief medical officers are reportedly bracing for the nex surge in COVID-19 infections. The surge is due to the omicron subvariant BA. 2 spreading throughout other parts of the United States. The subvariant is being referred to as "stealth omicron." (KOB)
