Here are the top stories in Albuquerque today:

  1. The Albuquerque Police Department says they are preparing to charge Paul Apodaca, who is connected to at least two other cold cases, in a third cold case. According to APD, Apodaca confessed to killing 13-year-old Stella Gonzales in 1988. Detectives are also attempting to corroborate details provided by Apodaca about each crime, and verify whether any of those details were available to the public since the crimes occurred. (KRQE News 13)
  2. On Wednesday, Karen Montoya, the chair of the political action committee Save Our CityLocal, filed the complaint to Albuquerque's ethics board against conservative local talk show host who is running for mayor, Eddy Aragon. The complaint focuses on two areas: The first is that Aragon is not reporting In-Kind contributions claiming that since Aragon promotes his campaign on his radio station, it needs to be filed as a contribution. The other aspect is that Aragon is violating federal law by not giving other mayoral candidates equal time on his show. (KOB)
  3. A New Mexico family is receiving an immense amount of support after their 6-year-old son is diagnosed with leukemia. (KOB)
  4. As temperatures drop in the Albuquerque metro area, nonprofit organizations and shelters are already preparing for an influx of visitors, especially those that make up the city's homeless population. (KOAT New Mexico)
  5. Flu season is here, and a dual vaccination clinic is coming to the Albuquerque Bio Park this Saturday. You'll be able to get both the flu and COVID-19 shots and see some special animal guests but booster shots will not be administered. (KOAT New Mexico)
