Here are the top stories today in Albuquerque:
- Noah Tapia accused of shooting out windows at the Bernalillo County headquarters, is facing multiple charges including felony criminal damage to property and shooting at an occupied building. Tapia appeared in court over Zoom Monday and pleaded not guilty, but his lawyer did the speaking for him. The last time Tapia was in court, a judge let him go on conditions of release, but the state is asking the judge to reconsider. (KOB)
- There's a new mural highlighting the history of city leadership. The mural on the 11th floor of City Hall displays the history of who has led the city from 1706 to now. It reveals more than 65 leaders. The mural sits outside the mayor's office for the public to view. (KRQE News 13)
- Four people are facing charges in a downtown murder that investigators believe was a case of mistaken identity. The shooting happened on an early morning in July near Central and 4th Street. (KRQE News 13)
- After almost two years of working through the pandemic, Albuquerque nurses are still experiencing COVID burnout and many are trying to leave the medical field for something else. (KOB)
- Jacque Kocer, a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Anthropology at the University of New Mexico, is working on a dissertation investigating ancient Indigenous peoples around Chaco Canyon in New Mexico. (UNM Daily Lobo)
