🌱 Truman St. House Fire Caused By Candle + 7-Year-Old Killed

Here are the top stories in Albuquerque today:
- A candle was determined to be the cause of a house fire in northeast Albuquerque on Monday. A total of nine Albuquerque Fire Rescue units responded to a small, single-story residential fire on Truman Street at around 3 a.m. on Dec. 13. The family has been displaced as a result of the fire, however, no injuries were reported. (KRQE News 13)
- A 7-year-old boy was killed in a hit-and-run crash near the ABQ BioPark River of Lights on Sunday after a car ran a red light. Albuquerque police say a family of four was walking to their car after leaving the River of Lights just before 8:30 p.m. on Sunday when an off-road vehicle ran a red light, hitting the boy and his father in the crosswalk. Witnesses told investigators that after the accident the vehicle continued westbound on Central Avenue without stopping. (KOAT New Mexico)
- The City of Albuquerque Animal Welfare Department is teaming up with the Albuquerque Police Department and Albuquerque Fire Rescue for the 12 Strays of Christmas. (KRQE News 13)
- The Albuquerque Public Schools Employee Recognition Program, now in its fourth year, recognized a few of the district's many outstanding employees for the month of December. (Albuquerque Public Schools)
- A bus driver shortage has left some school routes in ABQ empty. (Albuquerque Journal)
