Here are the top stories today in Albuquerque:
- Five people, including a state employee, have been arrested as part of an underage prostitution sting. The Bernalillo County Sheriff's Office partnered with Homeland Security on the operation earlier this week. BCSO says five men showed up as arranged at a local hotel, cash in hand, only to discover that the supposed teen was actually an undercover detective. Jayden Nez, Alexis-Perez-Zuniga, Michael Jaramillo, Larry Jenkins, and Aaron Maestas were all arrested; Maestas works for the New Mexico Department of Health as a manager for a program serving people with developmental disabilities. - Albuquerque Police Department detectives have arrested the father of a 2-year-old girl following her suspicious death on Friday. Michael David Garcia is being charged in the death of his daughter, Diana McGrory. Police arrived at the Meadowbrook Mobile Home Park around 3 p.m. and found McGrory's body in one of the homes. Officials said that following the investigation, APD's Crimes Against Children Unit arrested Garcia and charged him with child abuse resulting in death. He was booked into the Metro Detention Center. - The Women's March was held in hundreds of cities Saturday, including Tiguex Park in Albuquerque. (KOB)
- After last year's event was canceled amid the pandemic, the first day of Albuquerque's Balloon Fiesta saw thousands of attendees and hundreds of balloons lifting off. (KOB)
- A musical comedy parody based on the premise of the game "The Oregon Trail" will be staged by Musical Theatre Southwest. (Albuquerque Journal)
