Here are the top stories today in Albuquerque:

  1. The University of New Mexico recently announced their vaccine mandate will now include a COVID-19 booster shot requirement. Anyone who received their second dose of a COVID-19 vaccine on or before June 15, or a single dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine on or before Oct. 15, must provide documentation no later than Jan. 17, 2022, showing they received a booster shot. (KOB)
  2. Two Albuquerque hospitals recently had 50-plus people waiting in each facility for a hospital bed. Doctors said the influx of patients who delayed care are coming in sicker and taking longer for them to recover. This, along with COVID patients and overwhelmed staff, are contributing to long wait times. (KOAT New Mexico)
  3. Albuquerque police officers showed up at Volcano Vista High School on Thursday morning to follow up on an online threat. A post warning kids not to come to school had been circulating on Instagram. Albuquerque Public Schools officials say they were investigating the threat but say they didn't believe it was credible. (KRQE News 13)
  4. One person was shot and killed early Thursday morning in Northwest Albuquerque. Police say they were called to the area of Port Rd NW and Bluewater Rd NW in regards to shots fired and a fight-in-progress call. (KOAT New Mexico)
  5. An Albuquerque man is behind bars after admitting to beating his infant son. The attack was all caught on camera. (KRQE News 13)
