Young Entrepreneurs Given Opportunities to Learn in Albuquerque

Local Credit Union Offers Community Involvement Program

As the importance of small businesses on the American economy grows, more and more students are looking for opportunities to expand their knowledge of business and the community around them.

Business and entrepreneur classes are as popular among local schools as ever, and students are constantly searching for extracurricular activities to give them better knowledge of the community they live in and the effect that local businesses can have on their homes and neighborhoods.

Perhaps in response to the changing demands of the workplace and an increased call for community involvement, local credit union U.S. Eagle has begun the Junior Board of Directors Program to help students become more involved in their community and gain a better understanding of how business and finances can impact their homes and the lives of those in their community.

Designed to simulate serving on the board of directors of a financial institution, similar to programs offered to high schoolers and early college students such as Model U.N., the Junior Board of Directors program “is designed to immerse local youth ages 16-24 years old into the business of the credit union, leadership, and community service”.

Members will be expected to work together as a team to create initiatives that better serve their community and the members of U.S. Eagle Credit Union as a whole. Nine regular meetings will be held throughout the school year, wherein students will help with community involvement projects, learn more about business-related matters such as letters of confidentiality and public relations initiatives, and participate in extra-curricular activities throughout the school year.

With this program, U.S. Eagle hopes to help prepare the students in Albuquerque for what lies ahead, be it college, business, or further community involvement. Students involved will need to be a U.S. Eagle credit union member in good standing among other requirements (visible on the U.S. Eagle website) and all applications must be received by August 10, 2018 to be considered for participation in this program.

If you or a student you know would benefit from the offers and opportunities provided by this program, fill out the application at the U.S. Eagle website and get started on your new path to community involvement!
