📰 News we're reading

• Massive data center could steamroll tiny New York town (latination.com) — Residents of Alabama face a massive decision as town officials continue reviewing a proposed $19.5 billion AI data center at the STAMP industrial park that could demand up to 500 megawatts of power. While the governor has paused some state approvals, the town must still act locally amid fierce debate over jobs, taxes, environmental impacts, and the project's proximity to the Tonawanda Seneca Nation.

• Cross Country: Davis leads OA-E girls to third at John Izzo Classic (thebatavian.com) — Local runners from the Oakfield-Alabama/Elba cross country team turned in strong performances at the John Izzo Classic, with seventh-grader Reilly Davis leading the girls to a third-place finish. OA-E boys' squads also placed well in large fields, and several athletes from the Alabama-area program posted big time improvements over last year on the same course.
