Albany Police Investigating Second Street Shooting

Upon arrival, officers located an 18-year-old man and a 62-year-old man, both who sustained gunshot wounds to their hands.

ALBANY, NY – Albany police are currently investigating s shooting that occurred this evening on Second Street. On Tuesday, June 9, 2020 at approximately 6:30 p.m., officers responded to the area of First and Quail Streets for reports of two men who had been shot. Upon arrival, officers located an 18-year-old man and a 62-year-old man, both who sustained gunshot wounds to their hands. It was determined that the shooting incident had actually occurred on Second Street just west of North Lake Avenue. Preliminarily, it appears that the 18-year-old victim was traveling westbound on Second Street in a vehicle when an unknown suspect fired several shots at him. As a result, the 62-year-old victim, who was traveling on the sidewalk on his motorized scooter chair, was also shot by a stray bullet fired by the suspect. Both men were treated at the scene by Albany firefighters and transported to Albany Medical Center Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
