• City of Albany to post Albany Police Chief position (wnyt.com) — Albany officials are formally posting the police chief position, as required by state civil service rules, while Brendan Cox continues serving as chief. The city will recruit candidates and only seek a waiver to retain Cox if no qualified non-retired applicant is chosen, emphasizing his leadership and stability since returning to the department.
   

• Mayor Applyrs "deeply unsettled" by increased ICE activity in the region (cbs6albany.com) — Albany's new mayor, Dorcey Applyrs, is raising alarms about what she calls increased ICE activity in the Capital Region after an Ecuadoran family living in Albany for two years was detained and separated. She says her administration is working with local advocacy groups to support immigrant neighbors and stresses that family separations are traumatizing and contrary to the city's values.
