Chemung Canal Trust Co. reaches $2.9 million settlement with Pioneer Bank (timesunion.com) — Albany-area bank customers may be interested to know that Chemung Canal Trust, which operates locally as Capital Bank, has secured a $2.9 million settlement from Pioneer Bank tied to the MyPayrollHR fraud. While banks are recovering more of their losses, many small-business victims of Michael Mann's scheme still have not received restitution as the recovery case shifts to a new judge.
   

2. Albany International Airport may soon allow visitors past security checkpoint (wnyt.com) — Albany residents may soon be able to meet friends and family right at the gate, as Albany International Airport expects to join TSA's new Gateside PreCheck program. Approved visitors with TSA PreCheck or a Known Traveler Number could apply in advance to go past security without a boarding pass, opening easier access to farewells, reunions, and airport shops.
   

3. Sheriff: Albany County investigator charged with illegally using Flock data (dailygazette.com) — Albany County residents are learning that a longtime sheriff's investigator has been charged with misusing the county's Flock license-plate camera system to track personal acquaintances thousands of times. In response, Sheriff Craig Apple has restricted database access to supervisors, ordered regular audits, and acknowledged the case as a serious breach of public trust in local surveillance tools.
   

4. AI tool identifies where most accidents occur (news10.com) — Drivers in Albany and across the Capital Region can now use a free AI-powered tool, "Hardi," to see which local intersections and roads are most prone to serious crashes. Built from DMV police reports, it highlights when and where deadly accidents happen, helping residents, school transportation officials, and Albany County Sheriff's deputies target dangerous spots and curb distracted driving, especially cell phone use.
   

5. Delmar rehab center sharing improvements to facilities amid concerns (news10.com) — Albany County families connected to the Albany Center for Independent Living and Delmar Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing are hearing how new owners say they're fixing long-standing problems. After state investigations and past deficiencies, the operator describes major renovations, staff raises, and ongoing work with health officials and the town to improve care and living conditions.
