📰 News we're reading

• Pearlpalooza brings thousands to downtown Albany (news10.com) — Downtown Albany's Pearlpalooza packed North Pearl Street with thousands of residents and visitors for free live music, food trucks, and local vendors, showcasing new businesses and a lively atmosphere. City leaders and the Downtown Albany BID see the long-running festival as a key part of a broader push to revive nightlife and draw people back into the city's core.

• Never Drive Or Walk Into Floodwaters Turn Around Dont Drown (news-usa.today) — Albany-area residents are being urged by the National Weather Service in Albany to avoid driving or walking through any floodwaters as recent storms raise the risk of flash flooding on local roads. Even shallow, fast-moving water can sweep away people and vehicles or hide washed-out pavement and other hazards. Treat every flooded street or underpass as unsafe and always turn around instead of trying to cross.

• Pablo Ortiz's family remembers his heroic last moments 25 years later (news10.com) — An Albany family is marking 25 years since Pablo Ortiz, a Port Authority construction worker and Vietnam veteran, died while rescuing people in the World Trade Center's North Tower. His children and ex-wife, who were in the Capital Region that day, recall how he grabbed hardhats and crowbars to free trapped coworkers, inspiring them to live with purpose and help others.
