Today's riddle: What has a tail, but no body? 🤔 (Answer below!)
1. Albany woman arraigned in husband's murder (wnyt.com) — An Albany woman has been jailed without bail after being arraigned on murder and weapons charges in the fatal stabbing of her husband near South Pearl Street early Sunday. Police say the victim, a 39-year-old Albany man, died at Albany Medical Center after emergency crews responded to their home, and investigators quickly located and arrested his wife nearby.
2. Albany County votes down law limiting sales tax on clothing (cbs6albany.com) — Albany County lawmakers have rejected a proposal to drop the county's share of sales tax on clothing and shoes under $110, keeping prices and municipal revenue unchanged for Albany shoppers. Supporters argued the exemption would attract more business, while opponents warned towns like Bethlehem could lose hundreds of thousands of dollars annually. State tax exemptions on qualifying clothing purchases remain in place.
3. Albany International Airport Cell Phone Lot Closes for Expansion (dailygazette.com) — If you're picking someone up at Albany International Airport, the usual 32-space cell phone lot is closed through roughly November while crews more than double its capacity to 67 spaces. During construction, drivers must instead wait at a temporary lot at Albany Shaker Road and Heritage Lane, part of broader fall paving and parking upgrades at the busy airport.
4. Johnny Rockets returning to Crossgates Mall (news10.com) — Albany County diners can look forward to Johnny Rockets reopening at Crossgates Mall in late 2026, bringing back its classic burgers and milkshakes. The nostalgic, diner-style spot will return to its former lower-level location near Regal Cinemas, restoring a longtime favorite hangout for Capital Region shoppers and families.
5. Albany Med showcases surgical robots helping doctors detect cancer early, save lives (cbs6albany.com) — Albany Medical Center is now using advanced robotic systems to reach tiny lung nodules and other hard-to-access areas, aiming to catch cancers earlier for Capital Region patients. Surgeons say the minimally invasive bronchoscopy tools reduce risks compared with older needle techniques and have already been used in hundreds of procedures, potentially improving diagnoses and treatment planning for Albany-area residents.
