Merry CHRISTmas

Christmas, the gift that keeps on giving. Even Happy Holiday does not diminish the Christmas gold mine. Merry Christmas is better than heil Hitler or Kamerad (Tovarish). The Christians give the Merry Christmas salute & the politically correct give the Happy Holiday salute. Everyone salutes.

When Jesus was born, the Three Wise Men came on camels or donkeys. Uber was not around then. They did not drive pickup trucks.

My wife make visits to Walmart for an after supper walk. We call them Walmart entertainment centers. We walk briskly so not to get in way of the shoplifters or people fighting over things that can not afford or require. It is the Christmas spirit that takes them over. Black Friday is the high (black) mass of shoppers where all is possible. The hangover comes when the monthly statement arrives. People new to America seem to control their children, the rest have no control, they have given their young over to the god of materialism. It is a symbolic sacrifice to a pagan entity masquerading as the CHRISTmas time. Then their are the movies on TCM, usually dealing with another ‘season’ of Christianity. The Ten Commandments is a biggy, that is pre Christian but “what difference does it make”. Moses was a Jesus enabler!

Everyone likes receiving a gift & some enjoy giving. Giving is better but if you give, someone receives. That is a mystery of the season. One man’s loss is another’s gain. The mystery of everything is an endless loop, like life & death.

My fondest childhood memories are walking in the snow to Midnight Mass. The other is hiking with a friend & harvesting a ‘Christmas’ tree from the woods. It was a six mile hike in the snow, round trip. The pine needless dropped before Christmas & my mother had to buy a tree. There is nothing free in this life.

The mysteries of Christmas are endless. The biggest mystery is that man, human nature, has not obliterated the awareness of the Christ. Stay tuned.
