Gunshot Victim Found Outside Astoria Public Housing Complex Dies

Police officers found a 29-year-old man who had been shot multiple times near the Ravenswood Houses at 21st Street and 35th Avenue.

ASTORIA, NY — A man found with multiple gunshot wounds in front of a public housing complex in Astoria has died and a teenager has been taken into custody. Around 5:20 a.m. Sunday, police officers were sent to the area of the Ravenswood Houses near 21st Street and 35th Avenue for a report that someone had been shot. They found a 29-year-old man unconscious and not breathing who had been shot multiple times in the chest.

Emergency responders rushed him to Elmhurst Hospital where he died, police said. A 17-year-old youth has been taken into custody and is facing charges. Neither the victim nor the suspect was immediately identified.
