Anti-Asian Attacker Head-Butts Man In Astoria, Police Say

"You Asians are the reason I can't get a job," the attacker said, before hitting the man in the face and chipping his tooth, police say.

ASTORIA, QUEENS — A violent stranger head-butted and hurled anti-Asian insults at a man in a busy Astoria street, police announced late Thursday night.

A 22-year-old man was walking along Steinway Street between 34th and 35th avenues just before 9 p.m. Tuesday, when a stranger walked up and started to shout, police said.

"You Asians are the reason I can't get a job," the suspect cried, according to police. "You Chinese are scum."

The man then head-butted his victim in the face and sped away, police said.

The 22-year-old suffered a chipped tooth, but did not need any medical attention at the scene, police said.

The assault is now being investigated by the NYPD's Hate Crime Task Force.
