Seven-Year-Old Astoria Girl Struck, Killed By SUV Driver: Police

ASTORIA, QUEENS — A seven-year-old girl from Astoria was killed by a driver on Friday after the girl was crossing the street, police said.

Naadhun Dolma died after she was struck by an SUV driver at the intersection of Newton Road and 45 Street on Feb. 17, authorities said.

Dolma was crossing the street when a 46-year-old woman driving a 2021 Ford Explorer ran past a stop sign and struck the seven-year-old crossing the intersection about 5 p.m., the NYPD said.

The girl was taken to NYC Health & Hospitals/Elmhurst, where she died, police said.

No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing, according to authorities.

The incident comes less than two months after a cyclist in Astoria was killed by a truck driver on 24th Avenue. The incident sparked an outcry from lawmakers in Astoria, who are calling for the city to add protected bike lanes to the neighborhood.
