QUEENS, NY — What's more New York than bagels and pizza? The team behind Utopia Bagels, one of the city's buzziest bagel spots, is now slinging classic slices from a new joint in Long Island City.

Jax Pizza Joint is now open at 27-20 Jackson Ave. in Long Island City, taking over the former Juliet’s Pizza space (which closed last year after just two years), itself a replacement for Jules, the beloved printing and stationery shop that anchored the block for decades.

And just a few weeks in, Jax is already turning out gooey, freshly sliced pies in seven varieties alongside heroes stuffed with chicken parm and vodka sauce, plus a classic Italian combo of Prosciutto di Parma, burrata, arugula, and balsamic.

The folks behind Queens' iconic Utopia Bagels, led by Jesse Spellman, Angelo Tsoulos, and Jimmy Tsoulos, are behind the new slice shop.

According to the owners, they're channeling the old-school neighborhood pizzerias from their childhood, mixing that nostalgic feel with high-quality ingredients and flavors meant to keep customers coming back.

Slices are priced from $3.75 to $5.25, perfect for an affordable lunch grab.

Every pie at Jax starts with dough that undergoes a precise 24-hour process, yielding the light, crispy texture that defines New York slices.

From classic pizzas and heroes to their house-made desserts, zesty dips for pies and sandwiches, and a tight list of beers and wines, the menu aims to nail that unpretentious vibe of a real neighborhood pizzeria, officials said.

Jax Pizza Joint is open daily from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. For more information and the full menu, visit their website or follow @jaxpizzajoint.
