11-Year-Old Babylon Boy Hit by Car While Riding Bike

The boy was airlifted to the hospital with serious injuries after accident Sunday, police say.

An 11-year-old Babylon boy were seriously injured after he was hit by a car while riding his bicycle in West Babylon Sunday afternoon, police said.

According to police, Alex Pointdujour rode his bike out of a parking lot onto Sawyer Avenue, near Berkshire Road, when he was struck by an eastbound 2007 Hyundai Sonata driven by 71-year-old Patricia Cavaliere at 4:35 p.m.

Pointdujour was airlifted via Suffolk County Police helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital with serious injuries. Cavaliere, of Massapequa Park, was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The Hyundai was impounded for a safety check. Detectives are asking anyone with information about this crash to call the First Squad at 631-854-8152. No criminal charges have been filed.
