The 4 firefighters were given the Town of Babylon's highest honor for saving a life at a house fire in late September.

BABYLON, NY – Four firefighters were given the Town of Babylon's highest honor for saving a life at a recent house fire.
Copiague Department Chief Dominick Nuzzi, Copiague 1st Assistant Chief Kyle Miller, Copiague 2nd Assistant Chief Danny Broyles and Amityville 1st Assistant Chief Gavin Budde were honored by town officials with the heroism award at a recent meeting of the Town of Babylon Fire Chiefs Association.
In late September, Copiague and Amityville Fire Department responded to a residential structure fire in Copiague. Under the command of Chief Nuzzi, Chief Miller donned his gear and entered the house to search for possible occupants. Miller was met with advanced fire conditions, battling high heat, low visibility and no hand line yet in place to extinguish the blaze, officials said.

He found a resident inside and worked to remove them from danger. Broyles and Budde then helped Miller in successfully rescuing the occupant, officials said. Once the resident was deemed stable, Amityville’s ambulance crew transported the person to a local hospital, and while in route, reported that the patient was alert and breathing.
