UPDATE: Police Identify Woman Killed In House Fire

WEST BABYLON, NY — Police have identified a 71-year-old woman who died after a fire broke out in her West Babylon early Tuesday morning, Suffolk County police said.

Colleen Jalbert was found inside her Little East Neck Road home, after officers received a 911 call at about 3:30 a.m. regarding a fire at the residence, police said.

Jalbert was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner, police said. Her daughter, 48, was transported to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries, authorities added.

The cause of the fire appears to be non-criminal in nature, police said.
