LINDENHURST, NY — Town of Babylon Councilman Anthony Manetta received the prestigious Golden Lion Award from the Sons and Daughters of Italy New York State Grand Lodge Foundation, Inc. during its 41st Annual Golden Lion Awards Dinner, held at the Garden City Hotel in April.

“Councilman Manetta’s commitment to our community is second to none,” Babylon Town Supervisor Rich Schaffer said. “Whether it’s supporting local organizations, advancing economic development, or working to improve the quality of life for our residents, Anthony leads with integrity and purpose. This recognition is well deserved.”

Since joining the Town Board, Manetta has advocated for initiatives aimed at improving neighborhoods, supporting small businesses and expanding services for residents. Town officials said his hands-on approach and strong ties to the community reflect the spirit of the Golden Lion Award.

“I would like to express my sincere appreciation to the New York State Sons and Daughters of Italy for recognizing the Town of Babylon’s ongoing commitment to celebrating and preserving Italian-American heritage,” Manetta said. “This recognition reflects our continued efforts, including each year proclaiming October as Italian Heritage Month, hosting our annual pasta and sauce drive, organizing the Italian Food Festival, and supporting the coordination of the Long Island Columbus Day Parade within the Town of Babylon.”
