Babylon BOE Honors Fall Athletes

Teams Recognized After an Historic 2023 Season

At their business meeting in December, the Babylon Board of Education recognized the District’s fall athletes in light of their historic season. Members of boys and girls varsity soccer, cross country and gymnastics teams were honored for their success and dedication in their respective sports.

This fall season saw Babylon’s varsity cheer team become Suffolk County Champions and qualified for the NYSPHSAA State Championships. Individuals from the girls and boys varsity cross country teams: Kayla Hayes, Cassidy Hayes and Noah Norinder, qualified for the NYSPHSAA State Championships and team member Kayla Hayes was crowned Suffolk County Champion. Gymnast Makayla Turpo-Barbero was named a NYSPHSAA state alternate and is eligible to compete in the NYSPHSAA State Championships in the spring. The Babylon boys varsity soccer team won the Suffolk County Championship for the fourth consecutive year.

Last but not least, the members of the Babylon girls varsity soccer team had a historic season, becoming not only Suffolk County Champions, Long Island Champions, and NYSPHSAA Southeast Regional Champions before finishing as NYSPHSAA State-Finalists.
