Babylon Bookstore Turns Into Live Comedy & Music Venue For One-Night Showcase
Stand-up, rappers, poets, and more will take over The Neverending Story for a free, BYOB community arts night.
BABYLON, NY — A popular independent bookstore in Babylon will transform into a live performance venue this weekend as local creatives take the stage for a multi-genre arts showcase.
The “And Then Some” Showcase, hosted by Babylon-based stand-up comedian Ricky Grimes, will be held Saturday, Feb. 28, at The Neverending Story, located at 9 W. Main St.
The monthly open mic and curated showcase blends comedy, magic, poetry, music, and other live performance acts into one intimate evening designed to unite Long Island’s creative communities.

“For a long time, there have been talented, but separate performing communities on Long Island that have not had the platform to interconnect,” Grimes said to Patch. “We’re happy to try and make that happen.”
Sign-ups for performers begin at 7 p.m., with the show starting at 8 p.m. Organizers say space is limited. Those signing up to perform are asked to make at least a $5 purchase at the bookstore to support the shop.

Admission for spectators is free. The event will operate as a "bring-your-own-bottle" (BYOB) gathering, and free snacks will be available to attendees.

The showcase will feature a full sound system and stage lighting set against the bookstore’s shelves, creating a performance atmosphere that blends live entertainment with literary charm. The store will remain open for browsing before and after the show.
According to organizers, performers who stay through the end of the show will have the opportunity to secure priority sign-up for next month’s installment, reinforcing the event’s goal of building a recurring creative hub in Babylon.
Those interested in reserving a seat can register in advance through Eventbrite. For additional information, organizers can be reached at andthensomeshow@gmail.com or on Instagram at @andthensomeshow and @rickydgrimes.
