UPDATE: Police ID Man Fatally Struck by Babylon Fire Department Vehicle

The 64-year-old was struck by a fire department SUV Wednesday night.

BABYLON, NY – Police have identified a man who was struck and killed by a Babylon Fire Department vehicle while he was crossing a road in Babylon Wednesday night, Suffolk Police said.

According to police, 64-year-old Meade Pilaccio was crossing Park Avenue, west of Deer Park Avenue, when he was struck by a fire department first responder vehicle, a 2004 Dodge Durango, driven by 29-year-old Alexander Weber at about 10 p.m.

Pilaccio was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip, where he was pronounced dead. Weber was not injured.

The Durango was responding to an emergency call with its emergency lights activated at the time of the crash, police said.

Detectives are asking anyone with information on this crash to call the First Squad at 631-854-8152.
