Babylon H.S. Senior Named National Merit Semifinalist

Two More Named Commended Scholars in the Prestigious Contest

Matthew Nyman, a senior at Babylon Junior-Senior High School, has been named a semifinalist in the 2022 National Merit Scholarship Program. He was one of 16,000 students nationwide to be selected as a semifinalist among the 1.5 million who applied. Additionally, students Caroline Cassidy and Madeline Romaine were named National Merit Commended Scholars in this prestigious contest.

The National Merit Scholarship Corporation identifies academically talented students throughout the United States. This year’s National Merit semifinalists were chosen based on their 2021 PSAT scores. Matthew will go on to compete for one of the roughly 7,500 scholarships awarded annually in the spring. The scholarships are worth a total of more than $31 million.
