BABYLON, NY — After being closed for three years, a Long Island museum will soon reopen its doors.

The Babylon Village Historical Society Museum plans to host a grand reopening Saturday at 6 p.m.

In January 2020, trustees decided to close the museum and, in addition to a building renovation, start a museum redesign to tell the story of the village, which was incorporated in 1893, Newsday reported.

The pandemic then delayed the project.

It now has themed displays that highlight aspects of village history, such as its former hotels, the Great South Bay and the South Side Railroad, which became part of the Long Island Rail Road, said Newsday.

According to its website, the building, which was the former Babylon Village Library, was built in 1911. When the library moved to South Carll Avenue in 1969, the Historical Society was formed, and the museum was developed.
