Babylon Memorial Grade School Pays Tribute to its Veterans
Special Veterans Day Assembly Welcomes Local Veterans, Honors Those Who Served
Babylon Memorial Grade School paid tribute to the nation’s military service members on Thursday, November 9 during a special Veterans Day-themed assembly.
The school invited local veterans to attend, and through poetry, essay readings and chorus performances, the students paid tribute to both the service members present and all those who have served and sacrificed so much for their country. The students wore red, white and blue for the special occasion and created posters honoring each of the United States’ military branches. The school also held a white table ceremony during the assembly to honor soldiers who have been either captured or gone missing in action.
“Our country’s military service members have given so much for our country so it was only natural that we would try to honor their sacrifices in our own special way,” said Principal Lauren Fretto. “We sincerely thank our visiting veterans for their service and dedication, and we hope they enjoyed the assembly.”
