BABYLON, NY — Dutch, a two-year-old cream pit bull terrier, is Babylon Animal Shelter's Pet of The Week.

This handsome boy arrived at the shelter on Feb, 2 when his home was lost. Volunteers said he is a "young guy who lived a sheltered life" with few experiences.

"Dutch is a very sweet boy who doesn't know about much about the world that exists outside his crate and his yard," the shelter said. "Dutch starts out aloof, but with time spent, he opens up and seeks a connection with you."

He is also a fan of his training treats, and that helps make the connection, volunteers said. Dutch especially enjoys when his treats become "live" and he gets to play a game of chase and come back for a jackpot.

"Reassurance and comfort go a long way for Dutch and while he has many life experiences to learn, he will blossom with this help," the shelter said.

Dutch seeks a home with a dog savvy owner who can help him through obstacles that could arise. He has tested well with female dogs, has had cat experience in the past, and would love to prove how worthy he is of a home.
