Babylon School Earns Highest AP Honor From College Board
The recognition reflects strong student participation and success in Advanced Placement courses.

BABYLON, NY — Babylon Junior-Senior High School has earned the Platinum distinction on the College Board’s 2025 AP School Honor Roll, the program’s highest level of recognition.
The achievement reflects the school’s steady growth in Advanced Placement participation and success. Babylon previously earned Silver status when the Honor Roll launched in 2023, followed by Gold in 2024, before reaching the top-tier Platinum designation this year.
To earn the Platinum distinction, schools must meet several benchmarks that demonstrate both participation and achievement in AP coursework.

At least 80 percent of the graduating class must take at least one AP Exam during high school, reflecting a strong college-preparatory culture.
In addition, 50 percent of the graduating class must score a 3 or higher on at least one AP Exam, indicating that students are demonstrating mastery of college-level material and may qualify for college credit.

Schools must also show that at least 15 percent of graduates take five or more AP Exams, including at least one exam taken in 9th or 10th grade, encouraging students to engage with college-level coursework early in their high school careers.
The Platinum designation is a rare achievement. During the 2023–2024 school year, only about 7 percent of eligible schools across the United States and Canada reached the highest tier of the AP School Honor Roll.
“For a school our size to achieve Platinum distinction is a great achievement,” said Babylon Junior-Senior High School Principal Al Cirone. “It speaks to the dedication of not only our students, but also our educators, and the culture of academic excellence we have built together.”
