BABYLON, NY — Timothy Harrison, a Babylon teacher who was arrested and charged earlier this month with raping a high school student, is to be arraigned on an indictment in Riverhead on Wednesday, Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney said.

Harrison, 46, of Oak Beach, was charged on March 3 with two counts of third-degree rape and one count of third-degree criminal sexual act, police said.

He was then arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip, police said, where Judge Eric Sachs set his $25,000 cash bail.

In a press conference earlier this month, Suffolk County Police Commissioner Rodney K. Harrison announced that the arrest comes after an investigation determined that Harrison had a sexual relationship with a high school student in 2013. The student was 15 at the time, and Harrison was 38, police said.

This is a developing story.
