Babylon Village Girl Scout Receives Gold Award
Congratulations to Katherine Bencivenga!

From Babylon Village: Assemblyman Mike LiPetri (R-Massapequa) recently honored local Girl Scout, Katherine Bencivenga, on receiving the Girl Scout Gold Award – the highest and most prestigious honor in Girl Scouts whereby a member must transform an idea and vision for change into an actionable plan with sustainable and far-reaching results.
“I congratulate Katherine Bencivenga on receiving the highest honor in Girl Scouts, the Gold Award, for her dedicated and selfless work to help those suffering from dementia and Alzheimer’s disease,” LiPetri said. “It was obvious after meeting Katherine that she cares deeply about helping her community and fellow residents, and I know she will excel in whatever avenue of life she chooses.”
To achieve the Gold Award, Katherine developed wheelchair bags filled with memory care items and CDs of her recent concerts to aid those suffering from Alzheimer’s and dementia. Only a small percentage of Girl Scouts ever become eligible for the Gold Award.
