Babylon Village Prohibits Indoor Pickup, Suspends Metered Parking
The village issued new guidelines to help stop the spread of coronavirus in the area including only allowing delivery or curbside pickup.
VILLAGE OF BABYLON, NY — Babylon Mayor Ralph Scordino issued new guidelines within the village to help stop the spread of the coronavirus. This past weekend, an executive order by Gov. Andrew Cuomo went into effect. Cuomo ordered Friday that all "non-essential" businesses statewide must close their doors by 8 p.m. Sunday, with 100 percent of workers ordered to stay home. However, under the order, restaurants and bars remained opened but only for take-out or delivery.
However, Scordino stated that people cannot enter restaurants and other essential storefronts in the village. However, these businesses can still offer curbside pick-up or delivery only.
"I commend our storefronts as well who are strictly adhering to social distancing guidelines," Scordino wrote in a statement. "Social Distancing only makes sense when it is practiced and each restaurant/essential storefront should be following the guidelines set forth by the State of New York."

The village Code Enforcement also released a statement announcing the measure, stating that the order was in response to seeing numerous patrons who were waiting to pick up their orders were all congregating inside the establishments in relatively tight spaces, therefore violating the social distance guideline.
Last week, Scordino also announced that meter enforcement throughout the Village of Babylon has been suspended in order to help the local businesses. Monday afternoon, village officials announced that the village code enforcement officers will have the authority to disperse groups of people and children that don't follow the guidelines.
