Babylon Village Store Marks 100 Years In Business
Plesser's, one of the oldest appliance stores in the nation, recently celebrated a century in business with a grand re-opening.

BABYLON, NY - While it may seem like small, local mom-and-pop shops are dying out, one Babylon business proved that it has still been able to persevere after 100 years. Plesser’s, one of the oldest appliance stores in the nation, recently celebrated a century in business with a grand re-opening.
The business, located on 6 E. Main Street, was originally opened by Sam Plesser in 1919. The store is now owned by brothers and third-generation appliance men, Marc and Alan Howard.
In celebration of this amazing milestone, the store hosted a special event on Nov. 14 attended by employees, major trade partners, builders, trade organizations and the owners family members.

"Thank you to everyone that made this milestone possible. It could not have been accomplished without all of our business associates, our past and present employees, our customers and our families," a post on Plesser's Facebook page reads. "Here's to another 100 years!"
To help them continue on for many more years, Plesser's also received a $18,750 grant from PSEG Long Island’s Main Street Revitalization program.
