BABYLON, NY — Work for the Railroad Area Beautification Project in Babylon has officially begun. The Babylon Beautification Society is working on the project to improve the plot of land located on Depot Place, across from The Local.

On Saturday, the area was cleared for the work to begin. According to Frank Petruzzo, President of the Babylon Beautification Society, fencing will be added to the area as well as trees, shrubs and sod. Two new lampposts will be installed. Red brick will also be placed alongside the curb and grass area.

There will also be a new sign installed welcoming people to the village. An exact date for when the work will be completed has not yet been announced, but the second annual Arbor Day Celebration will be held in the area on April 25.
