BES Students Learn the Alphabet with Chicka Chicka Boom Boom
Kindergarteners Learn the Basics Through Famed Story Book
Babylon Elementary School kindergarteners in Mrs. Brooks’ and Ms. Rahner’s rooms worked on their alphabet lessons with the classic children’s storybook Chicka Chicka Boom Boom.
The tale by author Bill Martin Jr. features anthropomorphic letters who attempt to climb a coconut tree, and is intended to help the students with basic letter recognition. Celebrating the book is a September tradition for the classes, and is a major part of their first forays into the alphabet. They will be studying letters for the first few months of school, and as part of their lesson with the book, the students also began by making their own paper coconut trees and writing their names on them.
