Babylon Elementary School students in Ms. Weitz’s class were recently honored by the Babylon Board of Education for their philanthropic efforts. The students have been hard at work raising funds for the animal rescue nonprofit Ollie’s Angels.

Ollie’s Angels rescues and fosters dogs for adoption, and members of the nonprofit have also visited the young students to teach them about the group’s work and how they can help. The visit also included some young puppies, much to the delight of the students.

Inspired by the visit, Ms. Weitz’s class is now hard at work organizing a lemonade stand fundraiser for Ollie’s Angels which will take place in April. “I want to commend these students for their coordinated efforts to support a great cause, and going above and beyond to serve their community,” said Superintendent of Schools Carisa Manza.
