LONG ISLAND, NY - Suffolk County residents will be hitting the polls this week to elect several local representatives.
In addition to local town and village races, residents should look into who will be running to represent one of the 18 legislative districts in Suffolk County. This year, Election Day falls on Tuesday, November 5.
In anticipation of the big day, Patch asked candidates in the contested races to answer questions about their campaigns and will be publishing candidate profiles as election day draws near.

Heath A. Broughton, 52, of West Babylon is running for Babylon Town Council. He is running against incumbents Jacqueline Gordon (D) and Terence McSweeney (D) as well as challengers William Barci (R), Tina Kremer (R) and Walter Angevine (L) for two open seats.
The Libertarian has worked as Youth Consultant for over 30 years.

Patch: The single most pressing issue facing our community is _______, and this is what I intend to do about it.
Broughton: quality of life..educate the people to get the necessary credentials to be a park of the working force in the town.
P: What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?
B: i have been working in every capacity with the residents and not just in one isolated community
P: If you are a challenger, in what way has the current board or officeholder failed the community (or district or constituency)?
B: they have been physically absent
P: Describe the other issues that define your campaign platform.
B: healthcare for the young and old. immigration legalization
P: What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?
B: experience as a social worker and school counselor

B: never leave a job undone and remove yourself and emotions out of the way
P: What else would you like voters to know about yourself and your positions?
B: my passion and experience to unite separated communities has an incredible success rate.
