West Babylon High School’s International Club, under the direction of Miranda Fealey, recently hosted the first Culture Night to help celebrate Foreign Language Week.
Attended by more than 100 parents, students and staff, the evening featured international vocal, instrumental and dance performances made possible through the collaboration of the music department. Food samplings of culinary specialties were donated by local community businesses. Students also choreographed dances including the Bachata, Tarantella, Can Can, Hopak, Chinese Ribbon Dance and Bollywood.
In addition to the evening event, Ms. Fealey and food service director Jeannette Frabizio designed a school lunch menu featuring international culture. During the week, student options included nachos, calzones, chicken cordon bleu, lasagna, pierogies and General Tso’s chicken.
