CityMD Looking To Open New Location In Babylon Village
Some have shown their support while others raised concerns over the possibility of the facility opening at the site of the former bank.

BABYLON VILLAGE, NY — CityMD is looking to open a new location in Babylon Village, but recently hit in a small roadblock in the process, delaying the opening of the facility. The urgent care center is planning to take over the former Capital One bank on 8 Little East Neck Road.
During a Babylon Village planning board meeting last month Wayne Edwards, an attorney representing CityMD, presented the plans for approval to covert the abandoned building into the medical office. According the Edwards, the 4.7 acre property will include 24 parking spots.
Following the planning board meeting, another public hearing was held on July 15 for approval from the zoning board. While some expressed their support for the medical office to be built in the areas, others raised concerns during the hearing. The meeting ended without an official decision from the zoning board members.

A local resident Lee Sheridan expressed his concern over the traffic, saying that the medical office would be a "public nuisance" given that it would be open later than a bank would, Newsday reports. However another local resident, JoAnn Boettcher, stated that she believed the CityMD would be beneficial for people would rather go to an urgent care rather than their own doctor, according to Newsday.
During the planning board meeting, Edwards stated that he believed the urgent care facility will attract less traffic than a bank, given that it would not have a drive-through or people coming and going to use the ATM.

"This type of facility has a lot less in-and outs and employees than the bank had," he said during the meeting. "It's a much quieter and gentle use."
