Gilgo State Park Set To Reopen On Thursday
The park will reopen after after the placement of 800,000 cubic yards of sand on the beachfront.
GILGO BEACH, NY —Gilgo State Park is set to reopen to the public.
According to New York State Parks, New York State Parks Commissioner Erik Kulleseid and Executive Deputy Commissioner Tom Alworth will re-welcome the park during a ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday at 11 a.m.
The event comes after the placement of 800,000 cubic yards of sand on the beachfront.

This sand was dredged from the Fire Island Inlet by the Army Corp of Engineers, a press release stated. Also, 18 million lbs. of surface cement riprap at the former Coast Guard Station was removed prior to the sand placement.
